We Are A Recognized Nashville Soccer Club Supporters Group For All!
The roots of The Assembly go all the way back to 2016. When it was announced that Nashville would have a team competing in USL for the 2018 season, the first steps of The Assembly were put into motion to help build a community of soccer fans to support the team that would go on to become Nashville SC.
In the Spring of 2017, The Assembly was officially established. Our name is inspired by Nashville being the capitol of Tennessee and being known as “The Athens of the South.” Our crest is inspired by the full scale reproduction of The Parthenon located here in Centennial Park. For us, gameday is a chance for our members from different backgrounds to assemble and support our team. In 2017 the Nashville SC U23 team competed in the Premier Development League (now USL League 2).
During the 2017 season in PDL, we held our first tailgates as the team played during the summer on the campus of Vanderbilt University with our first match played on May 13th against Peachtree City MOBA. 2017 also saw momentum for a bid to join MLS building.
On December 20, 2017 Nashville won their bid to join MLS for the 2020 season and on that same day The Assembly finally reached it's required member count to be an officially recognized supporters group of Nashville SC for the 2018 season.
During the USL years we played at the home of the Nashville Sounds minor league baseball team, First Tennessee Park (now First Horizon Park). And became the only group that would host regular tailgates around the stadium that would become stuff of legend.
2020 was a historic year for us in many ways. The Backline Supporters Collective was formed to help bring more structure within NSC supporters groups. And the MLS iteration of Nashville SC hosted Atlanta United in our debut home opener at Nissan Stadium on February 29th in front of a sold out crowd of over 59,000. Shortly after the historic match, a deadly tornado tore through Nashville. Then, with our community still reeling, the COVID pandemic swept the world and paused the season after our second match against Portland Timbers on March 8th. After the season resumed in August we didn’t host any tailgates or watch parties until restrictions started to ease during the 2021 season.
In 2022, we took one of our biggest steps as a supporters group when we finally moved into our very own home. Nashville SC officially opened Geodis Park on May 1st for our historic first match in our new home against the Philadelphia Union. And we were there as always chanting loud for our Boys In Gold!
As we look to the future, we hope to continue to grow our group, grow the sport of Soccer in Nashville and Tennessee, continue charitable efforts in our community, and, of course, continue cheering on our Boys In Gold. We hope you'll be a part of our history going forward!
